Don’t be afraid to show you’re an expert

I was on the phone with a potential new client yesterday.

Indeed, he started our free trial at the end of our conversation.

We were talking about newsletter titles, and he wanted to use the word “advisor”.

However, he was nervous about appearing too “cocky” by using that term.

This is what I said to him:

You are an expert in real estate in your city, aren’t you? You can advise people. So you really should put the word “advisor” in the title of your newsletter because it will show that you are an expert who is of service to clients.

What I didn’t say (but should have said), is that if you are an expert, then it’s your duty to share that expertise and to promote yourself as having that expertise.

Otherwise, clients could end up with someone who doesn’t have your knowledge. And that could be damaging to them.

So don’t be afraid to promote what you’re good at by showing how you can help people.

After all, you’re good – and people should get the benefit of what you have to offer.
